Iran Unveils Hypersonic Missile Capable of Beating Air Defenses Amid Tensions with US
Iran has unveiled Fattah, a hypersonic ballistic missile that can breach defence systems and move at a speed of up to Mach 15. Hypersonic missiles are difficult to detect and destroy due to their speed and random path. Russia and China have already displayed hypersonic weapons, with Moscow being the only one thought to have tested them in combat. Iran's Fattah missile has a range of 1,400km and could theoretically reach Israeli targets in under seven minutes. The US has introduced a new round of sanctions on Tehran after the unveiling, including sanctions around its ballistic missile programme.
