Iran Unveils Hypersonic Missile Amid Tensions with US

Iran has unveiled a new hypersonic missile called Fattah, which it claims can travel at 15 times the speed of sound and beat air defenses. The missile has a range of up to 1,400 kilometers and a moveable nozzle that could allow it to change trajectories in flight, making it difficult to intercept. While hypersonic weapons could pose crucial challenges to missile defense systems, speed and maneuverability isn't a guarantee the missile will successfully strike a target. The announcement comes amid tensions with the United States over Tehran's nuclear program and as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is to begin a visit to Saudi Arabia.
