A family in South Carolina claims to have seen the missing F-35 fighter jet flying almost inverted at a low altitude before it crashed. The Truluck family noticed the aircraft while celebrating their son's birthday, and later heard a "boom" which they initially thought was thunder. The family realized the plane they saw was likely the missing F-35 after news of the incident emerged. The pilot had ejected from the aircraft, and debris from the jet was found about 80 miles away. The Marine Corps is currently investigating the incident.

The Allen Police Department has contradicted the eyewitness account of a man who claimed he administered aid to victims before police arrived at the scene of the Texas mall shooting on May 6.
