Sudan's Generals to Meet in Effort to End Devastating War, Regional Bloc Reports
Sudan's warring generals have agreed to hold a face-to-face meeting in an effort to establish a cease-fire and initiate political talks to end the devastating war in the country, according to an African regional bloc. The conflict, which began after a popular uprising led to the removal of longtime dictator Omar al-Bashir in 2019, has resulted in the deaths of up to 9,000 people. In addition, Sudan's government has ordered the expulsion of 15 diplomats from the United Arab Emirates over allegations of the UAE's support for rebel forces.
