"Revolutionary Theory Unifies Einstein's Gravity and Quantum Mechanics"
Physicists at UCL have proposed a new theory, called a "postquantum theory of classical gravity," that challenges the prevailing assumption that spacetime must be quantized to reconcile quantum mechanics with Einstein's theory of general relativity. Instead, the theory modifies quantum theory itself and predicts random and violent fluctuations in spacetime that are larger than those predicted by quantum theory. The theory has been stress-tested and proposes an experiment to measure the weight of a mass precisely to test its predictions. The outcome of the experiment could determine the quantum vs. classical nature of spacetime.
