The most expensive homes in the Birmingham metro area are located in the suburbs of Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, and Indian Springs, with Mountain Brook having the highest average home value at nearly $977,000, reflecting significant increases over the past five years.

NBC4 analyzed daily property sale records from the Franklin and Delaware County auditor’s offices and filtered for “one family dwellings” to not include apartments, duplexes, or unrelated land purchases. The most expensive home sold in Franklin County was located in Bexley and sold for $1.95 million, while the most expensive home sold in Delaware County was located in Johnstown and sold for $1.4 million.
