"Debunking the Cat Virus Panic: Veterinary Leader Reveals Lower Mortality Rates in Cyprus"

The head of the Cyprus veterinarians association has dismissed claims that a local mutation of a feline virus has killed as many as 300,000 cats on the island, stating that the numbers are greatly exaggerated. According to a survey conducted by the association, only about 8,000 deaths have been reported. The director explained that while the local mutation of the feline coronavirus causing Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is usually lethal if untreated, medication can successfully treat approximately 85% of cases. The virus and its mutation cannot be transmitted to humans, and measures have been taken to prevent its export.
