Westinghouse's eVinci Nuclear Microreactor Finds Its First Customer
Westinghouse has secured its first customer, the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC), for its eVinci microreactor, a 5-MWe/13-MWth "nuclear battery." The SRC plans to pilot the microreactor by 2029, subject to licensing and regulatory requirements. The location of the microreactor is yet to be determined. The project is supported by CA$80 million in government funding. The eVinci microreactor can provide electricity and high-temperature heat for industrial applications, and it is 100% factory-built and assembled. This milestone marks a significant step for Westinghouse in readying the eVinci microreactor for the market.
