Groq Launches First European Data Center in Helsinki to Boost AI Infrastructure
Groq, an AI semiconductor startup backed by Samsung and Cisco, has opened its first European data center in Helsinki, Finland, in partnership with Equinix, to expand its international presence and capitalize on rising AI demand in Europe. The company designs a chip called a language processing unit (LPU) optimized for inference tasks, offering a supply chain advantage over Nvidia, which dominates training chips. Groq aims to quickly deploy its technology and serve high-volume, low-margin inference workloads, positioning itself as a competitive alternative in the AI chip market.
