FDA Eases 'No Artificial Colors' Claims, Expands Natural Color Palette
The FDA will allow products to claim “no artificial colors” if they use natural color additives (not only if there is no color at all) and issued enforcement discretion. The agency also approved beetroot red and expanded spirulina extract, adding to six new natural color options this administration to accelerate phasing out petroleum-based colors, while emphasizing safety and proper labeling.
