Since Trump took office, there have been reports of immigrants, particularly Venezuelans, being forcibly disappeared through deportations to countries like El Salvador, raising concerns about violations of international law and human rights, with families unable to track their loved ones and communities living in fear.
Baloch activists protesting against "enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings" in Balochistan were beaten, arrested, and blocked from entering Islamabad. The protesters, including women and children, were met with water cannons, tear gas, and police violence. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and Amnesty International condemned the excessive use of force and called for the release of all detainees. The protests were sparked by the alleged killing of a Baloch youth, reigniting discussions about frequent extrajudicial killings and detentions in Balochistan.
Amnesty International has expressed deep concern over the inhumane treatment and enforced disappearances of Palestinians from the occupied Gaza Strip by Israeli forces. Reports of mass detentions, ill-treatment, and disappearances have emerged, including of children. Amnesty International's Crisis Evidence Lab has verified photos and videos showing the degrading treatment of detainees. The fate and whereabouts of many detainees, including two journalists, remain unknown. Amnesty International calls for an urgent investigation into all deaths in custody, enforced disappearances, and other violations. The organization also urges Hamas and other armed groups to release civilian hostages and treat captives humanely.
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has received disturbing reports from the north of Gaza, alleging mass detentions, ill-treatment, and enforced disappearances of possibly thousands of Palestinians, including men, boys, women, and girls, at the hands of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). Reports indicate that detainees, including children as young as 12 and individuals as old as 70, were subjected to serious ill-treatment, possibly amounting to torture. Families have not been provided any information on the fate or location of their loved ones, exacerbating their anguish and fear. The IDF claims to have detained only "Hamas affiliated" Palestinians, but concerns of collective punishment have been raised. OHCHR calls on Israel to ensure that civilians are detained according to law, treated humanely, and that all instances of ill-treatment or torture are fully investigated.
Families of the forcibly disappeared in Bangladesh, organized by Maayer Daak, gathered to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances and plead for the return of their loved ones allegedly abducted by state agencies. Over 600 people have disappeared since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government came to power in 2009. While the number of disappearances has reduced since US sanctions were imposed on the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), concerns remain as other state actors are accused of involvement. Human rights groups and victims have called for international monitoring and support to ensure justice for the victims and their families.

Sixteen civilians have been killed and fifty-nine injured in Russian shelling across eight regions of Ukraine. The UN has documented hundreds of cases of enforced disappearances and arbitrary detentions by both Ukrainian and Russian forces since the beginning of the invasion. Meanwhile, a Ukrainian orphanage tried to hide its children when war began, but the Russians eventually found them and demanded they be transported back to the orphanage.
The UN Human Rights office has accused both Russian and Ukrainian forces of dozens of summary or extrajudicial prisoners of war (POWs) executions since Russia's full-scale invasion more than one year ago. The report was based on interviews of about 400 POWs. The UN has documented some 40 extrajudicial executions and 621 cases of enforced disappearances and arbitrary detentions of civilians by Russian Armed Forces.
