Tragic Discovery: 5 University Students Found Dead in Violence-Plagued Mexican City
The bodies of five university students, all young men, were found stuffed in a vehicle on a dirt road in north-central Mexico. The governor of Guanajuato has promised an "exhaustive" investigation into the killings. The area where the bodies were found has experienced drug cartel violence in recent years. The victims were students at the Latina University of Mexico, which has suspended classes in mourning. While local media reports suggest the men were shot to death, prosecutors have not confirmed this. In June, a car bomb set off by a drug cartel in Celaya killed a National Guard officer.
