Vonn credits surgery for saving her left leg after Olympic downhill crash
Lindsey Vonn says a Milan Cortina Olympic downhill crash caused compartment syndrome that nearly cost her left leg; surgeon Tom Hackett performed a fasciotomy to save it. After multiple surgeries, a hospital transfusion, and a period in a wheelchair during rehab, she expects about a year for the bones to heal before ACL repair, and she remains committed to her comeback.
