"Dutch Ex-PM and Wife Choose Duo Euthanasia, Die Hand in Hand"
Former Dutch Prime Minister Dries van Agt and his wife Eugenie, both 93, have died in a rare double euthanasia, choosing to pass away together as they "couldn't live without each other." Van Agt, known for his sense of humor and leadership from 1977 to 1982, never fully recovered from a brain haemorrhage in 2019. The couple, married for 65 years, were buried together in Nijmegen, leaving behind three children. Euthanasia and assisted suicide have been legal in the Netherlands since 2002, with double euthanasia being rare but on the rise.
