"Dutch Ex-Prime Minister and Wife Choose Duo Euthanasia, Die Hand in Hand"

Former Dutch Prime Minister Dries van Agt and his wife, Eugenie, both 93, died together in a rare "double euthanasia" as the number of couples in the Netherlands choosing joint end-of-life options grows. Van Agt, known for his left-wing views and vocal stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict, served as prime minister from 1977 to 1982. The couple, who were very ill, were buried together, with a human rights charity he founded describing them as inseparable. "Double euthanasia" is rare but on the rise in the Netherlands, which has some of the most liberal euthanasia laws in the world.
