The Impact of Excessive Screen Time on Children's Cognitive Function Revealed
A meta-analysis of 34 studies has found a clear link between disordered screen use and lower cognitive functioning. Individuals with disordered screen use consistently demonstrated significantly poorer cognitive performance, particularly in attention and impulse control. The type of screen activity did not make a difference in the results, and the trend was observed across all age groups. The study suggests that constant exposure to screens and addictive cues designed to capture attention may weaken one's ability to concentrate over time. It also highlights the need for further research and open-access data policies from tech companies to better understand the impact of screen use on cognitive abilities.
