Samsung Wallet Introduces Mobile Driver's Licenses for Select US States

Samsung has announced that users will soon be able to upload their driver's licenses and state IDs to Samsung Wallet, with plans to allow apps to use the ID for age authentication in the future. This move comes as Samsung catches up with Apple in bringing digital verification technology to its products. Initially, users from Arizona and Iowa will be able to add their documents to Samsung Wallet, with more states expected to be added later. Samsung is also working with the US Transportation Security Administration on a test program to accept smartphone-based IDs at select airports. In early 2024, Samsung will release a software development kit for developers to integrate online age and identification information into their apps.
