India Unearths First Ever Dicraeosaurid Sauropod Remains

The first ever remains of a dicraeosaurid sauropod have been discovered in India. The fossil, a partial dorsal vertebra, was found in the Thar Desert and has been dated to approximately 167 million years ago. Named Tharosaurus indicus, the dinosaur belonged to a group of long-necked herbivores called dicraeosaurids. The discovery suggests that India played a significant role in the emergence of neosauropods, and further research is needed to explore the country's potential for dinosaur fossils.
