A wildfire in Tenerife, Canary Islands, which has burned 11,600 hectares and forced over 12,000 people to evacuate, was started deliberately, according to regional authorities. While improved weather conditions have aided firefighters' efforts, the blaze continues to threaten 11 town areas. In Greece, wildfires have also caused evacuations, with one man losing his life while trying to save his livestock. Southern European countries, including Italy and Portugal, are bracing for extreme heat, with temperatures predicted to reach up to 44°C.
