Switch 2's DLSS upscaling falls short of expectations, claims suggest

The successor to the Nintendo Switch may not include Deep Learning Accelerator (DLA) technology for upscaling, potentially limiting the viability of DLSS (deep learning super sampling) on the console. Reports suggest that while the next console will feature DLSS, it won't have DLA accompanying it, which could impact its ability to upscale to 4K. Instead, it may be limited to 1080p upscaling, possibly 1440p in some cases. Nintendo has not officially commented on its plans for the next console, but development kits have reportedly been sent to key partners for a launch in the second half of 2024.

"Nintendo Switch 2: DLSS Potential Limited Without Deep Learning Accelerator"

Rumors suggest that the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console will not feature a deep learning accelerator (DLA), potentially limiting its DLSS capabilities. While the absence of a DLA may restrict the system's upscaling capabilities, it is still expected to support NVIDIA DLSS and offer superior ray tracing performance compared to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The console's official details and release date are yet to be announced.
