Trump's Truth Social app loses head of engineering in exclusive resignation

The head of engineering for Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the company behind former U.S. President Donald Trump's Truth Social app, has resigned. Alex Gleason, founder of Soapbox Technology, left TMTG to focus on developing technology for connecting multiple decentralized platforms. Truth Social has struggled to gain significant user growth since its launch in February 2022, while Trump has been reinstated on major social media platforms. TMTG's merger with Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC) has been delayed due to ongoing investigations by the Justice Department and the U.S. securities regulator.

SEC Considers Decentralized Crypto Platforms as Exchanges, Requests Public Feedback

The US SEC has voted 3-2 to seek public comment on its proposal to expand the definition of an "exchange" to include decentralized cryptocurrency platforms, also known as DeFi platforms. The proposal, first introduced in January 2022, aims to capture many more venues for regulation beyond traditional exchanges. While some DeFi platforms may fall under the proposed definition, others may already be considered exchanges by the existing one. The move has raised additional questions for the sector, with many in the industry calling for regulatory clarity.
