The malware, also known as QNAP worm, has evolved into a downloader for various other payloads and is linked to the broader cybercrime ecosystem. The latest distribution vector involves the use of heavily obfuscated WSF files offered for download via various domains and subdomains, with the malware employing anti-analysis and anti-virtual machine techniques to evade detection. Additionally, it configures Microsoft Defender Antivirus exclusion rules to avoid being scanned, posing a serious infection risk.

Released GTA 6 Hacker Unrepentant, Vows to Offend Again

Arion Kurtaj, the 18-year-old hacker responsible for the massive GTA 6 leaks, has vowed to continue committing crimes after being released from jail. Kurtaj, a member of the cyber-crime group Lapsus$, hacked Nvidia, Uber, and Rockstar Games, causing millions of dollars in damages. He attempted to blackmail Rockstar Games by threatening to release the source code for GTA 6. During a court hearing, it was revealed that Kurtaj intends to return to a life of crime. He has been placed under a 12-week hospital order due to mental illness.

FBI warns iPhone and Android users of bank-emptying Wi-Fi and charging port scam.

The FBI has issued a warning to smartphone users to be cautious when using public Wi-Fi or charging ports to avoid cyber-crime attacks. Users are advised to avoid conducting sensitive transactions on public Wi-Fi networks and to limit their activity or use a VPN app. Additionally, the FBI warns against using free charging stations in public places, as bad actors can use public USB ports to introduce malware and monitoring software onto devices. Users are advised to carry their own charger and USB cord and use an electrical outlet instead.
