Ohio resident may have had undetected COVID strain for 2 years.
Researchers believe someone in central Ohio has been infected with COVID-19 for at least two years, and they're hoping to find that person. Molecular virologist Dr. Marc Johnson discovered "cryptic" strains of the virus in wastewater systems, which may be linked to just one person. Johnson believes this indicates that someone has been carrying and shedding the COVID virus for more than two years, and hopes that person will come forward to help answer important questions about long COVID. The virus is inactive once it passes through the gastrointestinal tract and poses no threat to public health.
