"India's Declining Ranking in Global Corruption Index Raises Concerns"
India has slipped 8 spots to rank 93 along with Lesotho, Maldives, and Kazakhstan on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2023, with a score of 39. The CPI ranks countries based on their perceived levels of public sector corruption, and India's score has only dipped by one point from the previous year. Transparency International notes that most countries have made little to no progress in tackling public sector corruption, with the global average score remaining unchanged at 43. In the Asia-Pacific region, New Zealand, Singapore, and Australia secured top scores, while Pakistan ranked 133 and China ranked 76.
