Meta Unveils Cutting-Edge AI and VR Innovations at Developer Conference
Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has revealed that it used public posts from these platforms to train parts of its new Meta AI virtual assistant. However, the company excluded private posts shared only with family and friends to respect users' privacy. Meta also took steps to filter private details from public datasets used for training and did not use private chats as training data. The company's president of global affairs, Nick Clegg, emphasized that they tried to exclude datasets with a heavy preponderance of personal information. Meta AI is the most significant product unveiled at Meta's annual Connect conference and will be able to generate text, audio, and imagery. Meta is also expecting potential litigation regarding the reproduction of copyrighted materials by AI systems.
