World Bank Employees Struggle with Poverty
Food workers employed by Compass Group North America at the World Bank headquarters in Washington D.C. are struggling to make ends meet, with a quarter of them receiving public benefits like SNAP. Despite catering to some of the world's most important people, many of the workers are paid just above the minimum wage of $16.10 per hour, with some earning $18 per hour after a decade on the job. The workers, who are in the midst of contract negotiations, are seeking higher wages and better healthcare benefits.
