Houthi Attack on US-Owned Ships Escalates Tensions
The Houthis attempted another attack on a U.S.-owned commercial ship in the Gulf of Aden, despite multiple rounds of U.S. military airstrikes targeting the militant group. The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Gravely intercepted the anti-ship ballistic missiles, and there were no reported damages or injuries. The U.S. has been conducting airstrikes to degrade Houthi capabilities, including preemptive strikes targeting Houthi missiles. The attacks, which began in November, are seen as part of wider tensions in the Middle East, including attacks by Iran-backed groups on U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria.
