Red Sea Attack Prompts US Warship Response

The USS Carney, a US warship, responded to a distress call from the merchant vessel Swan Atlantic after it was attacked by "multiple projectiles" in the southern Red Sea. The attack, which follows a series of recent attacks by Houthi forces on commercial vessels in the region, occurred while US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is in the area for meetings with Israeli officials. Over the weekend, the US Navy ship shot down 14 drones launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.
