"Research Grant Aims to Improve Treatment for Chronic Lyme Disease"

Mount Sinai's Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance has received a $6.2 million grant from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation to expand the Cohen Center for Recovery From Complex Chronic Illnesses (CoRE). The funding will support research and clinical care for chronic Lyme disease, long COVID, and other infection-associated complex chronic illnesses. The center aims to develop and test novel therapies, provide specialized rehabilitation, manage concurrent conditions, offer cognitive rehabilitation, and explore advanced testing and diagnosis for Lyme patients. The CoRE will collaborate with the PolyBio Research Foundation to analyze samples and focus on understanding the root causes of infection-associated chronic diseases.

"Major Funding Injected into Chronic Lyme Disease Research"

The National Institutes of Health has awarded federal grants to two Massachusetts teams to study chronic Lyme disease, a condition that affects 10-20% of people with Lyme disease and shares similarities with long COVID. The research aims to develop a better understanding of the causes of chronic Lyme and potentially develop effective therapies. One study led by Michal Caspi Tal at MIT is analyzing the "antibody signature" in Lyme patients to develop a diagnostic test. Another study led by Dr. Linden Hu at Tufts Medical School is investigating the theory that an autoimmune response to phospholipids may be responsible for chronic Lyme symptoms. The studies offer hope for better diagnosis and treatment options for chronic Lyme patients.

"The Quiet Epidemic" Documentary Successfully Proves the Existence of Chronic Lyme Disease

"The Quiet Epidemic" is a documentary that argues that chronic Lyme disease exists, despite the medical establishment's position that it is not backed up by science. The film features individuals whose lives have been ravaged by the disease and presents scientific evidence that has been gathered in recent years. While the perception that people who think they have chronic Lyme are victims of a psychosomatic phenomenon is one that some lean towards, the film argues that chronic Lyme disease is more than just part of the "anti-science movement."
