Mike Yastrzemski's Hamstring Strain Receives Positive Prognosis from SF Giants

San Francisco Giants' Mike Yastrzemski, who left Wednesday's game with tightness in his left hamstring, has avoided a serious injury and will likely not need to go on the injured list. Scans revealed only some inflammation and swelling, not enough to even earn a Grade 1 designation. The Giants are going to play it safe with Yastrzemski, and with him limited Thursday, they recalled speedy switch-hitting outfielder Bryce Johnson from Triple-A Sacramento. Right-hander Sean Hjelle, who tossed four scoreless innings in Wednesday’s win, was optioned out.

Dodgers dominate Giants with Muncy and Freeman's heroics.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won 10-5 against the San Francisco Giants, taking the series and leaving the Giants searching for answers and healthy outfielders. Max Muncy led the Dodgers' lineup and pounded Giants pitching, finishing the series with 11 RBI. The Giants lost two outfielders in the middle innings and also lost an early lead they had built off Clayton Kershaw. Taylor Rogers failed to record an out in the sixth, and the Dodgers tacked on against John Brebbia and Ross Stripling. Bryce Johnson made a leaping catch at the wall to rob Freddie Freeman of at least a two-run double but was shaken up on the play and sat on the warning track for a couple of minutes before slowly walking back to the dugout.

The Giants' offense finally came alive in the ninth inning with a mad dash scramble for the plate and a 3-run burst. Anthony DeSclafani pitched well for the Giants, allowing only one run in 6.1 innings. The Giants now face a tough 3-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
