Brett Wisely's athleticism and acumen were on full display as he made a quick calculation to throw out Nelson Cruz in the Giants' game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Wisely also hit his first big league homer, teaming with Thairo Estrada up the middle to give Alex Cobb plenty of support on both sides of the ball. The Giants won 4-1, their fourth straight. Wisely's strong defense has made it an easy call for Gabe Kapler, especially with a staff that has plenty who rely on getting the ball on the ground.

SF Giants' Roster Shake-Up: Trades, Snubs, and Recalls.

The San Francisco Giants had an odd couple of days with roster moves, including outfielder Bryce Johnson being sent down after a strong spring, only to be brought back two days later when Brett Wisely was sent down. The moves were due to issues behind the scenes, including the Giants acquiring Matt Beaty and trying to work out a second trade that ultimately fell through. Despite the confusion, the Giants feel they ended up where they wanted to be with their roster.

SF Giants Make Moves with Outfielders Johnson and Wisely

The San Francisco Giants have selected outfielder Bryce Johnson to the active roster and optioned Brett Wisely to Triple-A. The team transferred Luke Jackson to the 60-day IL to make room for Johnson on the 40-man roster. Johnson will provide some speed off the bench for the Giants, while Wisely will continue his development in the minors. Jackson is still rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and is not expected to return until May 31.
