British poet and author Benjamin Zephaniah has passed away at the age of 65 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor just eight weeks ago. Known for his "dub poetry" and his exploration of the Black experience in Britain, Zephaniah published numerous books of poetry, plays, and albums. He was regarded as a pioneer and innovator in his field, and his passing has been mourned by many in the literary and music communities.
Pete Brown, the British poet and singer who co-wrote some of Cream's most famous songs, including "White Room" and "Sunshine of Your Love," has died at the age of 82 after a battle with cancer. Brown started his artistic career as a Beat Poet in the late 1950s and worked with Cream drummer Ginger Baker before finding better chemistry with bassist Jack Bruce. Brown continued to contribute lyrics to Cream's next three albums, and both "Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room" were later named to Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list.
