Israel's Counterproductive Bombing Campaign in Gaza
Israel's intense bombing campaign in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of civilians and the displacement of millions, is failing to achieve its objectives. The indiscriminate bombing has not weakened Hamas or convinced Gaza's residents to stop supporting the group. History has shown that large-scale bombing campaigns rarely achieve their goals, and Israel would have been better off pursuing surgical strikes against Hamas leaders instead. To achieve lasting security, Israel should adopt a viable alternative strategy, such as taking meaningful steps towards a two-state solution, which would drive a political wedge between Hamas and the Palestinians.
