A study led by Newcastle University reveals that coral reefs in Palau, a Pacific Island nation, have shown an increase in thermal tolerance over the past few decades. The research suggests that if coral thermal tolerance continues to rise at the historic rate, it could significantly reduce the impacts of bleaching caused by climate change. However, this resilience is contingent on reducing carbon emissions in line with the Paris Agreement commitments.
