Sudanese fighters pose biological threat by seizing lab with dangerous pathogens: WHO
Fighters in Khartoum, Sudan have seized a biolab containing contagious disease pathogens, including measles and cholera, according to the World Health Organization. The lab also contains hazardous materials and polio isolates. The WHO warned that the situation poses a high risk of biological hazard and that energy cuts could spoil blood bags kept at the lab. The lab technicians have been unable to access the National Public Health Laboratory since it was seized by fighters whose allegiance is unknown.
