MIT engineers have discovered that exercise not only benefits muscles but also promotes neuron growth through biochemical signals called myokines and mechanical effects. Their study shows that neurons exposed to myokines grow significantly faster, and mechanical stimulation mimicking muscle contractions can similarly enhance neuron growth.
