Uncovering the Berdyansk Partisans' Murder Mystery.
The murder of 16-year-old Tyhran Ohanesyan and Mykyta Khanhanov in Berdyansk remains shrouded in mystery, with many unknown circumstances and discrepancies in the investigation. Ukrainian human rights activists have been working on the case since 2022, when the boys were abducted and tortured by so-called investigators in occupied Berdyansk. The European Parliament passed a resolution demanding their release in 2023. The boys were recently charged with "theft" and "sabotage" and were killed shortly after visiting the occupation police. Ukrainian investigative authorities have opened a criminal investigation, and the Media Initiative for Human Rights will conduct its own investigation.
