A newly recorded video captured the clearest images yet of a "geologic wonder" off the coast of Hawaii, revealing a surreal collection of 80-foot-tall and 2-foot-wide hexagonal basalt columns resembling a sunken metropolis. These formations, created by an ancient volcanic eruption, exhibit unique horizontal layering. The footage was recorded during a 14-day expedition aboard Exploration Vessel Nautilus, which aims to explore deep-sea habitats and collect high-resolution video and sonar data for scientific research.
