Scottsdale Implements Ban on Natural Grass in New Homes Starting August 15
The City Council of Scottsdale, Arizona, has unanimously approved an ordinance banning new single-family homes from having real grass in their front yards, effective from August 15. The move is aimed at promoting sustainable water management and setting an example for other communities in the region. This decision follows a previous ordinance in 2022 that prohibited homeowners associations from requiring grass lawns, resulting in significant water savings. Scottsdale businesses and residents have saved approximately 657 million gallons of water since then.
