"Chipotle's Avocado Nightmare: The Cursed Guacamole Robot Doomed to Eternal Avocado Duty"

Chipotle has partnered with robotics company Vebu to test a prototype robot called Autocado, which cuts, cores, and peels avocados for guacamole preparation. By using Autocado, Chipotle aims to reduce guacamole prep time by half and improve efficiency while potentially reducing food waste. The restaurant is exploring collaborative robots to drive efficiencies and ease pain points for workers. However, concerns remain about the potential impact on jobs as restaurants increasingly adopt AI, robots, and automation technologies.

"Chipotle's Avocado Robot Revolutionizes Guacamole Preparation"

Chipotle has introduced a new kitchen robot called Autocado, designed to halve, peel, and core avocados to speed up the preparation of guacamole. Developed in collaboration with Vebu, the cobot can handle up to 25lbs of avocados, removing the pit and peel while depositing the waste in a bin. The remaining fruit is dropped into a bowl for final guacamole prep. The robot aims to reduce the time it takes to make guacamole by half, freeing up kitchen staff for other tasks. Although still in the prototype stage, if successful, the technology could potentially be used in homes as well.

Chipotle's Autocado: Revolutionizing Guacamole Prep with Robotic Efficiency

Chipotle is testing a new avocado processing robot called Autocado, developed in collaboration with automation solutions company Vebu. The robot cuts, cores, and peels avocados, reducing guacamole prep time by 50%. Chipotle plans to roll out Autocado to one of its restaurants later this year. This is the second robot being tested by Chipotle, following the introduction of Chippy, a robot that makes tortilla chips. The company sees automation and AI as having "endless possibilities" and is exploring their potential through its Cultivate Next fund. Chipotle's shares have risen nearly 48% this year.
