Controversy Surrounding Nnamdi Kanu's Release and Asari-Dokubo's Alleged Oil Contract Bid

Pro-Biafra group, MASSOB, has criticized former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, for opposing the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Dokubo had warned President Buhari against releasing Kanu, calling him a criminal. In response, MASSOB called Dokubo a "frustrated criminal" and accused him of economic sabotage. The group also defended Kanu, calling him a "prisoner of conscience" and accusing Dokubo of seeking government contracts from Bola Tinubu.

Calls for Investigation into Asari Dokubo's Alleged Oil Theft

Former Minister of Communications, Major-General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (retd.) has called on the Nigerian Armed Forces to report ex-militant leader Asari Dokubo to the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services for investigations over allegations that the military and some cabals are behind 99% of oil theft in the country. Olanrewaju described the allegations as an attempt to bring down the military and make militancy popular to the public, and called for a commission of inquiry to be set up to investigate the claims.
