James Beard Awards Finalists Announced, Including Utah Chef, Pittsburgh Chefs, and Pastry Shop
Ali Sabbah, the chef at Mazza in Salt Lake City, has been named one of five finalists in the "outstanding chef" category for the Mountain region in the prestigious James Beard Foundation Awards for 2023. Sabbah feels humbled to be part of the category with other talented Utah chefs. Mazza, which has served Middle Eastern cuisine for over 20 years, survived a "major disaster financially" during the COVID-19 pandemic. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 5.
