Windows 11 is reportedly being used by over 400 million monthly active devices, according to leaked Microsoft data. The adoption rate of Windows 11 has been slower compared to its predecessor, Windows 10, taking two years to reach the same adoption rate that Windows 10 achieved in just over a year. The strict hardware requirements for Windows 11, including support for TPM security chips and CPUs released from 2018 onwards, have contributed to the slower adoption. Windows 11 currently accounts for around 37% of operating systems on Steam and has a market share of nearly 25%, significantly behind Windows 10. Microsoft has not officially disclosed the number of active devices running Windows 11 but had previously reported over 1.4 billion monthly active devices running Windows 10 or Windows 11 in April 2022. Microsoft's support for Windows 10 is set to end in 2025, and the company is expected to launch Windows 12 in 2024.
