Raymond Lester, a man from Portland, has been found guilty of intentionally or knowingly murdering his girlfriend, Nicole Mokeme, in a hit-and-run incident near Acadia National Park. Witnesses reported that Lester was intoxicated and behaving erratically before driving his SUV off the road and onto a walking path, fatally striking Mokeme. He was apprehended in Cancun, Mexico, and extradited back to Maine to face trial.

Tragic Death of Maine High School Student in Acadia National Park

A 17-year-old high school student, Bryce Basso, fell to his death while hiking with friends in Acadia National Park in Maine. The incident occurred near the Otter Cliff area, and park rangers and first responders performed CPR. The National Park Service reported the incident to the Maine Office of Chief Medical Examiner. The school will provide support for students and staff. Basso was a well-liked student and a starting defensive back for the Brewer Witches football team.
