Opposition parties promise to join forces for 2024 elections in India.

Fifteen opposition parties, including Congress, Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Trinamool Congress, AAP, DMK, NCP, and others, met in Patna to forge a common front in "national interest" and decided to initiate talks on seat-sharing for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, AAP struck a discordant note and said it would be difficult for them to participate in future meetings of like-minded parties where Congress is a participant unless the latter pledges to vote against the Delhi ordinance in Rajya Sabha. The next meeting will be held in Shimla next month.

Indian opposition parties unite to challenge Modi in 2024 elections.

As many as 17 opposition parties have announced that they will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections together to defeat the BJP. The announcement was made after a grand meeting hosted by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar in Patna. The next meeting will be held in Shimla and will be led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. The opposition leaders said they were working in the national interest and accused the BJP of acting against it. The Aam Aadmi Party skipped the press briefing and came out with a statement condemning the Congress' “silence” over the Delhi central ordinance.
