Rare Footage Captures Orca Feasting on Whale Shark's Liver

Rare footage captured off the coast of Baja California, Mexico, shows an orca tearing open a whale shark and feasting on its liver. The video, taken by an ocean tour operator, reveals the orca swimming upside down beneath the shark and biting its underside, with blood spewing from the wound. While orcas have been known to attack juvenile whale sharks, this is the first known video of them attacking an adult. Shark livers are highly nutritious, and orcas have been documented engaging in this liver-eating behavior for decades.
