Researchers in India have discovered fossils of an ancient giant snake, estimated to have been between 36 to 50 feet long and weighing up to a ton, living 47 million years ago in western India's swampy forests. Named Vasuki indicus, the snake was a slow-moving ambush predator that likely preyed on catfish, turtles, crocodiles, and primitive whales. This discovery sheds light on the existence of giant snakes during periods of exceptionally warm global climates, similar to the previously discovered Titanoboa in Colombia.
