Syria readmitted to Arab League as relations with Assad improve.

The Arab League has readmitted Syria after more than a decade of suspension, allowing it to resume its participation in Arab League meetings immediately. However, some Arab states have been keen to set conditions for Syria's return, with a ministerial contact group formed to liaise with the Syrian government and seek "step-by-step" solutions to the crisis. Syria's membership of the Arab League was suspended in 2011 after a crackdown on street protests against President Bashar al-Assad that led to a devastating civil war, and many Arab states pulled their envoys out of Damascus.
