South Africa Clears Allegations of Arms Shipment to Russia

An independent inquiry in South Africa has found no evidence to support the claim that a Russian ship collected weapons from the country late last year destined for Russia. The accusations, made by the U.S. ambassador to South Africa, had raised concerns over South Africa's neutrality in Russia's war in Ukraine and possible Western sanctions. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa stated that no permit was issued for the export of arms and no arms were exported, and the ship had docked to deliver equipment ordered for the South African National Defence Force. Ramaphosa emphasized that none of the allegations made about the supply of weapons to Russia have been proven true.
