Lawyer of Jailed Kremlin Critic Kara-Murza Flees Russia Amid Putin's Reign of Terror

Vadim Prokhorov, the lawyer who defended Kremlin critic Vladimir Kara-Murza, has fled Russia after receiving warnings that he could be jailed. Prokhorov has defended a string of prominent Kremlin critics in court over the years, including Kara-Murza, Ilya Yashin, and Boris Nemtsov. The trial was widely condemned by the international community, with the UK announcing Friday it was sanctioning five Russians linked to Kara-Murza’s arrest and alleged poisoning. At least eight lawyers who have defended Russian journalists and opposition activists have been designated “foreign agents” by the Russian authorities.
